A .375 Royal sidelock ejector rifle built by Holland & Holland (H&H) in 1961 has made £37,500 ($61,492) at an auction at Bonhams London.
The rifle led the December 4 Modern Sporting Guns sale, achieving a figure towards the higher end of its £30,000-40,000 ($48,222-64,296) estimate.

It features a treble-grip action-body decorated with foliate-scroll engraving, topped with a Swarovski 1.5-6x42 Habicht telescope-sight with quickly detachable mounts.
Founded by Harris Holland in 1835, H&H produces some of the world's most luxurious sporting guns, with customers including members of the British royal family and US president Teddy Roosevelt.
In the early 1990s, an H&H double rifle belonging to Roosevelt made $550,000 at a US auction.
A Chung engraved 12-bore single-trigger sidelock-ejector by J Purdey & Sons also sold for £37,500 ($61,492).
The gun, produced in 2005, features bold foliate scroll engraving with a rolled edge trigger guard and comes presented in a brass-mounted oak and leather case.
J Purdey & Sons was founded in 1814 and has a strong reputation as a high-end rifle maker.
In 1838 Queen Victoria bought a pair of pistols made by the company, which still retains warrants by various members of the royal family.
A fine .303 sidelock ejector rifle by J Rigby & Co realised £27,500 ($45,058).
It was produced in 1904 for Viscount Castlereagh (1878-1949), secretary of state for air in the British government in the 1930s.
