The snifter was discovered by American troops as they entered Goring's hunting lodge at the end of the second world war. It features a horn cup body set into a silver stag head, embellished with a 14 carat gold mountain lion handle.
In the typically lavish style adopted by the Nazis, the stag's eyes are set with rubies, while a bezel set emerald decorates the base. Stamped "Wagner 800 Berlin" on the base, and with its own silver Carinhall identification tag attached, it is expected make $9,000-10,000.
Also featuring in the sale is a Black Forest carved tobacco box, which was presented to Heinrich Himmler by Nazi politician Dr Robert Ley. Boasting an ornate swastika plate and antler decorations, the box also features an inscription which roughly translates as: "
The sale's top lot is expected to be a German kaiser-period officer's helmet, which has a valuation of $17,000-18,000. It originates from the elite Garde du Corps, who served as personal bodyguards to the King of Prussia and, after 1871, the kaisers of the German Empire. Dated 1916, the magnificent helmet is adorned with the classic German parade eagle on top, which can be removed and replaced with the more familiar spike which was used in daily activities by the Garde.
