A complete set of Umayyad reform coinage, including 56 gold dinars struck between the years 77h and 132h, are to auction at Baldwin's London on May 9.
Offered from the Horus Collection, the gold dinars are anonymous and without mintname, but it is strongly believed that the coins hail from the seat of the caliphate in Damascus.

Perhaps the most important and valuable coin in the set is a single 77h gold dinar, one of the earliest coins to carry inscriptions from the Holy Qur'an, and whose Islamic legends set the pattern for centuries to come.
The complete set of Umayyad reform coinage carries an impressive £400,000-500,000 estimate ($612,697-765,893).
On April 22, three of the earliest and rarest Islamic gold coins, estimated at $527,500+, are to cross the block at Morton & Eden. How well these three coins perform will be a strong indicator as to the likely success of the Horus Collection in May.
