The vehicle in question is a veteran of the famed rally, which is the world's longest running motoring celebration. Registered for 2013's event and in fantastic condition, it sold for £606,300 ($966,654) - a 34.7% increase on its £450,000 high estimate.
When first produced in 1903, the car was a state of the art model, boasting four cylinders and producing 2,714cc. It was delivered new to entrepreneur Julius Drewe, founder of the UK's Home and Colonial Stores, and has spent much of its life in the hands of the family of early restoration expert Stanley Sears.
