Glasius Lotus Collection auctions at the Goodwood Festival of Speed

Last week saw the auction of the late Matthew Drendel's 'world's most significant collection' of turbocharged Porsches. Now classic Lotus car fans will get a similar treat in the upcoming auction of Olav Glasius' collection.

Glasius' assemblage is world-renowned, and will be auctioned on June 29 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed sale. The collection comprises 24 vehicles from 1953 to the present day. It is expected to realise in excess of £1.5m.

Glasius, a Dutch textile industrialist as well as a racing enthusiast, has chosen to auction his car collection "so that others can enjoy these wonderful machines".

Classic cars for sale will range from Mark VI through Marks VIII and IX.

Also auctioning is one of the now extremely rare and immensely desirable Team Lotus works Le Mans veteran Type 11s. An original and unspoiled Formula Junior Lotus 27 and ex-Formula 1/InterContinental Lotus Type 18 will also be among the auction's highlights.

Olav Glasius' passion for the Lotus marque began when he saw the legendary Jim Clark dominate the 1963 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort in a Lotus 25.

A lifelong passion was born, resulting in probably the world's largest privately owned collection of Lotus road and racing cars.

The Glasius Lotus Collection is sure to attract wealthy bidders from all over the world - and the auction will also highlight the 60th anniversary year of the Lotus marque.
