A sports website has conducted in-depth research into the vehicles that top footballers drive. Unsurprisingly, car collecting is rampant among leading international players.
Footballers in the 1960s may not have the superstar wages that they had today but, according to SoccerLens, that didn't stop George Best from getting the ball rolling...
Jaguars were Best's car of choice, and he was particularly famous for his E-Type and Mark II.
David Beckham has apparently invested some of his estimated $219,525 a week income into a convoy of vehicles.
His latest acquisitions include a $206,400 Lamborghini Gallardo, and a colossal $103,200 Hummer H2 on which he spent an additional $33,800 on lavish accessories.
Beckham's 'sensible' cars include a Mercedes S500 and a $312,080 6.75-litre V8 engined Bentley Arnage, in which he visited Buckingham Palace to pick up his OBE from the Queen in 2003.
His other cars include: a custom built Ferrari 360 Spyder costing $215,550, a Ferrari 550M, a Porsche 911, a Range Rover Vogue, an Aston Martin DB7, a Lincoln Navigator, a TVR Cerbera, Porsche 911 Turbo, a Land Rover 4.6 HSE, a Chrysler Grand Voyager, a Jaguar XKR and a Porsche Boxster.
He also has a bunch of armor plated BMWs - 750, 750i, 540i and an X5 - usually reserved for his minders.
Beckham reportedly uses a gleaming Rolls Royce Phantom for his weekly shop. When the chairman of Ferrari offered Beckham one of their cars, he amazingly turned them down.
Beckham's England national team colleague Wayne Rooney reportedly bought himself a Porsche 911 as a 19th birthday present.
Rooney's collection also boasts a BMW X5, a Mercedes CLK, a Cadillac Escalade, a Chrysler 300C and an Audi TT.
His wife Colleen bought him an Aston Martin Vanquish as a good luck present before the last World Cup.
Claude Makelele, Paris Saint-Germain captain, drives a Mercedes McLaren SLR worth a whopping £350,000; and Robinho, Manchester City and Brazil, owns a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4.
Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo has a Bugatti Veyron on order for an astonishing £830,000. He also drives an Audi R8 supercar, a BMW X5 and a Ferrari 360 (which he recently crashed).
