"For a lot of people, their version of Hot August Nights is spending it entirely in this building for this auction." auctioneer Mitch Silver told the Reno Gazette-Journal
That's not surprising, really. 700 automobiles went up for auction this year, some going for hundreds of thousands of dollars, and with those numbers come the serious collectors - really serious.
"We have some people who buy 12", Silver added.
Cars are dispatched from Reno's auction house to collectors all around America, and indeed Europe and Australia.
"We will sell from 10:30 in the morning to 10:30 at night. No breaks. No stops. A new car every 2 minutes and 45 seconds."
But what about the recession?
"I don't think it has touched the cars," Don Brooks of B&T Custom Rod and Restoration told the paper, "Last year was good, and the year before was good, too."
