Once again classic Ferraris took most of the top spots this year, demonstrating the marque's enviable appeal to buyers around the world.
That said, there were some significant rumblings of change - with Porsche outperforming every other manufacturer during the first 11 months of 2016.
It may be that as top end Ferraris become increasingly unaffordable for all but the ultra-rich, buyers will get their kicks elsewhere.

Spiders are among the most desirable Ferraris on the market.
Only a handful were ever produced, so the appearance of an ultra-rare alloy bodied specimen from 1959 at Gooding & Company's Pebble Beach sale in August was met with much enthusiasm.
It sold for $18.1m.

Racing driver Erwin Goldschmidt's own 1962 Ferrari Superamerica realised $4.4m at RM Sotheby's in March. It's one of only 47 ever made and was tweaked to Goldschmidt's own specifications.
You don't see unrestored 1956 Porsche 550 Spiders very often. So when one was offered at Bonhams in September, bidding went through the roof. It hammered for a record £4.9m ($6m).
The 1937 Bugatti type 57c has to be a contender for best looking car of all time. One made $9.7m at Bonhams' Amelia Island sale in March.
A 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Spider narrowly missed out on this year's top spot, achieving a phenomenal $17.1m at Gooding & Company in March.

This 1928 Foden D-type timber tractor realised an exceptional £140,000 ($204,834) at Cheffins in May.
It's got a great history to it, having been worked in the fields up until the 1950s and then exhibited at rallies up until the early 2000s.
Remarkably it's still in great condition after close to 100 years in near continual operation. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Prices for top motorbikes have been on the up for the last few years and this year we saw a new record set for the 1932 Brough Superior.
Regarded by many as the Holy Grail of bikes, it's one of only 10 to feature the rare three cylinder configuration.
It made £331,900 ($481,000) at Bonhams this April.
