The June 25-26 Auctions America sale in Santa Monica will include a "perfect" Porsche 959 "Komfort" among its leading lots.
The Porsche 959 was originally designed in 1983 for the racetrack, but went into full production in 1985 and quickly claimed the title of the world's fastest street-legal production car, with a top speed of 200 mph.

Upon the car's release in 1987, Car and Driver magazine wrote:
"We hesitate to call any car perfect. The absence of flaws in any product of human endeavour is extraordinarily rare. But we have just returned from West Germany, where we finally got a chance to drive a Porsche 959 on the street, and the word 'perfect' is difficult to avoid."
"We're thrilled to have been entrusted with the sale of the Porsche 959," says Auctions America's specialist Matt Malamut. "The experience of driving a 959 is unlike any other; it combines incredible sophistication that allows for both simple and effortless operation, with outstanding performance, great looks and comfort. Simply put, this car is serious fun."
Not only is the car fun to drive, it's also regarded as highly collectible. Just 329 examples were produced between 1986 and 1993, and low mileage examples have sold at auction for seven-figure sums in recent years - with Gooding & Company selling a unique example for a record $1.7m earlier this year.
The car on offer in Santa Monica is highly original, with just two owners from new and 7,500 km on the clock. It comes with an estimate of $1.3m - $1.6m.
Further classic Porsches on offer will include a 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera Speedster valued at $210,000 - $250,000; a stylish vintage 1960 Porsche 356B 1600 Roadster, estimated at $160,000 - $200,000; and a 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 Coupe priced at $175,000 - $200,000.
