A 1972 Jaguar E-type Series III roadster that spent the last nine years in a barn in Carlisle has made £61,050 ($78,965) at Classic Car Auctions.
The lot was the star of a September 24 sale, achieving an increase of 50% on a £40,000 ($51,738) estimate.

It has been in the same family collection since it was bought new in 1972 and has been driven sparingly, with just 43,285 miles on the clock.
The car is unrestored with all of its original parts - making it an excellent restoration project. It will require relatively little work to bring up to standard.
The consignor explains: "My dad loved cars and race days. It will be sad to see the car go but now it can be brought back to life and enjoyed, as it should be."
Guy Lees Milne of Classic Car Auctions explained: "Jaguar E-Types are among the most sought after and collectible classic cars on the market today, and the Series III represents excellent value.
"Naturally, a barn find like this is in need of some attention, but it will make a very exciting project."
Other highlights included a 1981 DeLorean DMC-12, best known as the car from the Back to the Future franchise.
It made £25,300 ($32,721).
