A first edition copy of Lewis Carroll's collected Alice's Adventures through the Looking Glass and Alice in Wonderland (1866) will cross the block at Swann Auction Galleries.

The books are bound in two volumes, with this being one of 100 presentation sets sent out by Carroll in 1871.
Carroll has inscribed them to Elizabeth Slatter, daughter of the curate of Sandford-on-Thames, John Slatter - who was a close friend.
Together they are valued at $15,000-25,000 ahead of the May 18 sale in New York.
The record for a copy of Alice in Wonderland is $1.5m, set for Carroll's personal copy.
