It is perhaps the ultimate coffee table book for space collectors.

Publisher Taschen Americais republishing American author Norman Mailer's 1970s book about the 1969 first moon landing, 'Of a Fire on the Moon.'

Only 1,969 copies will be printed - and 12 of them will contain slices of lunar meteorites which have landed on Earth.

All copies of the book, retitled 'Moonfire', will include Mailer's original text, along with additional photographs sourced from Nasa, Life and private collections.

Taschen is currently waiting for professional valuations of the meteorite samples it possesses. It is also compiling a waiting list of readers.

Creed Poulson, the public relations manager at Taschen America, told The Times: "[The price] will be thousands, hundreds of thousands, of dollars. Kind of like a diamond."

The 1,957 copies of 'Moonfire' without meteorite fragments are for sale online priced at $1,000 (£609) per copy.  ____________________________________________________________
