Book lovers have the chance to have a character named after them by one of their favourite authors, in a London charity auction on November 20.
|
The auction, known as the Immortality Auction, hopes to raise money for Freedom from Torture, a charity supporting victims of torture.
Authors such as Margaret Atwood, Ian McEwan, Sebastian Faulks, Zadie Smith and Will Self are all offering places in their future novels.
While revealing little about the characters, Atwood has said: "The character I am donating to Freedom from Torture's Immortality Auction will either appear in the novel I am finishing now or in my upcoming retelling of Shakespeare's The Tempest".
Sebastian Faulks commented: "The character will appear in a novel that I am about a quarter of the way through writing. It should be published either late 2015 or early 2016. It is set in the Britain, France, the USA, Italy and North Africa, so there should not be too much of a problem with the nationality of the name. "
