Video of the Week... The Material Worlds art selling expo at Sudeley Castle

Visitors to Sudeley Castle in the Cotswolds are currently being treated to a fascinating contemporary art experience as great sculptures and installations have been placed in the grounds of the building with the assistance of Sotheby's as a selling exhibition.

This is the auctioneer's second outdoor selling exhibition in collaboration with the castle, which is running from July 28 to September 30, 2011.

The Material Worlds exhibition brings together cutting-edge, one-off and limited edition works in strikingly different materials by 11 artists and designers, including Tord Boontje, Amanda Levete, David Adjaye, Ingo Maurer and Paul Fryer.

Set amongst the romantic ruins of Sudeley and its award-winning gardens, the works challenge the boundaries of Design, Art and Craft, creating an experience unlike that which you might experience within the confines of an art gallery.

We reported on the first selling exhibition last year, and that made a big impression.

The stand-out piece was probably a sculpture which appeared to be a huge jug pouring out some fluid substance, as if being done by an invisible giant.

This created quite a startling experience in the open air grounds and it seems likely that visitors will have similarly striking experiences this year.
