Christie's has set the record for any auction of contemporary Indian art in 2014, with Tyeb Mehta's Falling Bull leading bids.

The sale - held December 11 in Mumbai - marked Christie's second in India, as the only international auction house to hold sales on the sub-continent. The auction brought in more than $12m, with Mehta's work selling for $2.8m.
The auction also marked five new auction records, as well as a record for any manuscript sold in India, set by Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore's pocket book full of his notes, poems, songs and drawings.
The strong results reflect the increasing interest in collectibles in India, which is spurred by its economic growth. Christie's has been championing Indian art for some years, and a healthy market is being established.
