Two previously un-catalogued sculptures have been discovered in the Munich apartment of Cornelius Gurlitt, the son of a Nazi-era art dealer whose nefariously obtained collection made headlines last year.

One of the works is by the great French sculptor Rodin

Ingeborg Berggreen-Merkel, head of the task force appointed to track the rightful owners, commented that the works include: "a sculpture that is probably by Edgar Degas and a marble sculpture that, after a first inspection, may be a work of the French artist Auguste Rodin".

She promised "thorough research work and a transparent presentation of the new discovery" for "the victims of Nazi art theft as well as the heirs of Cornelius Gurlitt".
