An impressive gilt and verdigris sulky weathervane, depicting famed harness racing horse Nancy Hanks, is to auction alongside more than 500 lots of antiques and folk art at James D. Julia in Maine on February 1.
The weathervane, which features pneumatic tyres that have been attributed to the J W Fiske Company of New York - one of the most prominent American manufacturers of decorative cast iron and cast zinc items during the second half of the 20th century - carries a $10,000-15,000 presale estimate.

An antique equestrian weathervane also attributed to the J W Fiske Company brought $14,500 at a Cincinnati auction in July 2007.
Also set to star on February 1 is an unusual pair of fire buckets that were recently discovered in a Massachusetts home and are estimated to be worth $35,000-40,000.
The three day sale, which will commence with a fine arts session on January 30 that is set to feature a number of paintings by members of the Cape Ann School, boasts objects from a number of esteemed collections, including the late John Gale Collection of New England paintings as well as items from the estate of the late PY Wang.
