Bonhams' Period Design auction, which is scheduled for February 12 in London, is to star a beautiful silk Kashan carpet estimated to be worth £8,000-12,000 ($13,000-19,000).
Kashan carpets and rugs hail from the Kashan region of north central Iran, which was previously an area in Persia - a country famed for its rug production. Produced in large numbers during the 17th and 18th centuries, it is believed that Persian carpet production ceased after the Iranian invasion in 1722.

A host of other intriguing items are also set to star, including a pair of late 19th century walnut serpentine commodes contesting for the title of top lot. Estimated to be worth £8,000-12,000 ($13,000-19,000), the commodes are in the Rococo revival style and are believed to be Italian.
