A spectacular pale celadon jade vase proved popular at Maynard's March 12-13 International & Asian Art auction in Vancouver.

The Qianlong period (1730-1795) piece sold for $816,500, making a $60,000 increase on estimate. It was joined by another jade vase that shared this estimate and brought $598,000. Both pieces were originally purchased in June 1971 and were among the five items consigned to the sale from the Sabet Collection.
Habib Sabet was a successful businessman who founded more than 40 corporations, as well as establishing Iran's first television network. The five items offered from his collection sold for $2.1m.
