Royal Worcester vase valued at $130,000 with Bonhams

Bonhams will hold two separate auctions of British pottery and glass on November 12 in London, led by a stunning Royal Worcester vase.

Royal Worcester vase
The vase is a collaboration between two of Royal Worcester's greatest artists

The piece comes as the highlight of the Fine British Pottery and Porcelain sale, which boasts a strong selection of Royal Worcester items.

The vase, dated 1899, is valued at £60,000-80,000 ($96,000-130,000) - a reflection of it being a unique collaboration by two of Royal Worcester's finest craftsmen, George Owen and Edward Salter.

Owen was responsible for forming the pierced body of the vase, which features his honeycomb design and a unique arabesque band around the middle.

It is decorated with a spectacular Chinese pheasant, which was modelled in clay with tooled and shaded goldwork by Edward Salter.

Further Royal Worcester items include a painted plaque by Harry Davis, which shows a roaring stag in a Scottish highland landscape, and is estimated at £20,000-25,000 ($32,000-40,000).

Bonhams will expect strong bids for the piece, which is one of the largest that Davis ever painted. It represents a departure from Davis' depictions of sheep, and is the only stag painting recorded by the artist.

Antique bottles are a hugely popular collecting area, offering options for every budget

Highlighting the glass sale is a rare wine bottle dated to 1687, which hails from the Thomas A Gray Collection. Globe-shaped, it is one of just two bottles known to have survived from that year, warranting a £18,000-25,000 estimate.
