A painting by Ricky Gervais titled Sunset Cityscape sold for £1,900 ($2,913) at McTear's in Glasgow on October 25.

Ricky Gervais donated the work to a Scottish cancer charity

Alongside his career as a writer and comedian, Gervais has a keen interest in painting.

Brian Clements of McTear's said in the runup to the sale: "Ricky Gervais is a hugely talented guy and the painting shows that when it comes to the creative arts, he can turn his hand to just about anything."

The proceeds are to go to Maggie's Centres, a cancer charity.
