A distinctive ship painting by 19th century nautical artist Richard Barnett Spencer is to cross the podium at Kaminski Auctions in Massachusetts on August 10.

Will Helen Campbell Inward Bound (above) bring in excess of $3,000?

Expected to achieve between $1,500 and $3,000, the expansive oil on canvas features impressive vessel Helen Campbell gliding through choppy waters.

Spencer, a prolific British artist, was commissioned to produce his trademark maritime canvases throughout the first half of the 19th century. Although popular among auction goers, examples of his work seldom achieve in excess of $10,000.

In September 2010, Spencer's Warship at Sea sold for $1,600.

A snow scene by Norwegian landscape painter Paul Lauritz valued at $1,500-2,000 is also to star at the present sale.

Works by Lauritz have a strong auction record: in October 2008, the artist's absorbing Avalon Harbour sold for $65,000, while Lauritz's spectacular Desert Mountains and Cacti made $10,000 in April 2012.

Exceptional Sevres porcelain items are also likely to set collectors' hearts aflutter. Two pairs of vases created at the esteemed French manufactory are expected to achieve $2,500-3,000 and $4,000-6,000, respectively.

Pre-revolutionary Sevres is worth a great deal more than items produced during the 19th century. Earlier this month, a 1775 Sevres clock, which once graced ill-fated French king Louis XVI's Versailles bathroom, auctioned for £433,875 ($661,226) in the UK.
