Swann Auction Galleries' Old Master Through Modern Print sale brought a number of works from the greatest painters and printmakers of all time to New York on Tuesday, April 27.
Among them were various etchings by Rembrandt Van Rijn, including The Flight into Egypt: Altered from Seghers, dated circa 1653.
One of only eight examples to have appeared at auction in the last 20 years, according to Swann, the 8 ½ x 11 1/8 inches etching was the auction's biggest draw, selling for $72,000 including buyer's premium.

The superb, richly-inked impression of foliage and landscape was formerly in the collection of Heneage Finch, Earl of Aylesford.
Other Rembrandt etchings included Self Portrait with Curly Hair and White Collar: Bust, circa 1630, sold for $36,000 and Christ Driving the Money Changers from the Temple.
Featuring a superbly dark impression of Christ, adorned in a robe and reminiscent of the earliest artistic impressions of Jesus, it sold for $26,400.
