Swann Auction Galleries' Old Master Through Modern Print sale, in New York on April 27, will feature one of the greatest painters and printmakers of all time.
Highlighting the sale are two etchings by Rembrandt Van Rijn.
The first, Christ Driving the Money Changers from the Temple offers a superbly dark impression of Christ, adorned in a robe, reminiscent of the earliest artistic impressions of Jesus.
The etching and drypoint is dated to 1635 and measures 5 ½ by 6 ¾ inches.

It will sell alongside a self portrait by Rembrandt, Self Portrait with Curly Hair and White Collar: Bust, dated to circa 1630 (pictured top right).
This example is a very good, strong impression of a portrait which is usually pale and indistinct. Fewer than 10 impressions of this image have appeared at auction in the last 20 years.
The etching measures 2 3/8 x1 7/8 inches.
Both artworks will appear in Swann's auction with presale estimates of $30,000-50,000.
Although these Rembrandt artworks are expensive examples, historic pencil etchings can offer great opportunities for entry-level collectors and investors to acquire works by the great artists.
For example, a rare sketched self portrait by Françoise Gilot, one of the most enduring artists of the post World War II School of Paris and Pablo Picasso's muse, is currently up for sale to collectors priced £10,000 ($16,500).
