Paul Gauguin sketch leads at $8,000 amid artist ephemera

A sketch of a Tahitian woman by the post-impressionist Paul Gauguin is selling at RR Auction, in a sale that closes on October 15.

The sketch is a simple line drawing from Gauguin's travels to Tahiti in 1891, which spawned a series of paintings based on the bright colours and culture he saw there. It is currently selling for $8,054.

Also featuring is an invitation card to Jean-Michel Basquiat's famed 1986 exhibition at the Annina Nosei Gallery, which is signed and inscribed by the artist "See othr side, $eeother$side, Fo For Louise, Basquiat."

It has received bids of $3,808.
