Pablo Picasso silver pendant up 665% on estimate

A set of three silver pendants made by Pablo Picasso in the 1950s performed exceptionally well in a sale at Skinner on March 18.

A silver satyr's head made $153,000 against a $20,000 estimate, an increase of 665%. A silver sun achieved $141,000 against an identical valuation.

A pendant portrait of the artist's son, Claude, made $92,250.

The items were presented to actress Carole Mallory by Francoise Gilot, the mother of Claude Picasso to whom Mallory was engaged in the 1970s.
