A collection of rare photographs of the Elliot Marbles by Victorian photographer Linnaeus Tripe is to cross the block at Bonhams with a £15,000-20,000 ($22,774-30,366) estimate.
The marbles are named after Walter Elliot, who oversaw their removal from the Buddhist Great Stupa at Amaravati in India.

They had fallen into disrepair in the transition to Hinduism. They were catalogued by Tripe in Madras in 1858 and now stand in the British Museum.
Head of Bonhams' book department, Matthew Haley, said: "It is to Linnaeus Tripe that we owe some of the most evocative photographs of India and Burma of the mid-Victorian period.
"They stand not only as works of art in their own right but also as invaluable historical records. His images of the Elliot Marbles made under difficult conditions are held in particularly high regard."
