A hand woven wool rug by Ingrid Dessau (1923-2000) could make $30,000-50,000 at Wright's May 8 auction of Scandinavian design in Chicago.
It was produced in around 1950 and is typical of the designer's handmade arts and crafts style.

She studied under Barbro Nilsson, who was at one point the director of Marta Maas-Fjetterstrom - Sweden's most prestigious rug manufacturer. Nilsson's influence is clearly evident in Dessau's work.
A piano lamp by Poul Henningsen (1894-1967) is valued at $30,000-40,000.

Henningsen is best known for his famous PH-lamp, which negates glare from the bulb via a cleverly arrayed series of shades.
This example of the form is built from bronze and Bakelite and features a sweeping and elegant profile.
Alongside his work as a designer, Henningsen wrote for a variety of left wing magazines. He was forced to flee Denmark as the Nazis arrived in 1940.
A dining table by another Danish designer, Borge Mogensen (1914-1972), will provide another of the sale's highlights with a valuation of $20,000-30,000.
The piece is created from sequoia burl and cherry wood and was executed in 1949.
Mogensen was one of a handful of designers who popularised Scandinavian furniture - paving the way for IKEA's global domination of the market.
