Helmut Newton's Sie Kommen up 17% on estimate at Julien's

A print of fashion photographer Helmut Newton's Sie Kommen (Naked) provided the headline lot of an art sale at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills on June 26.

The lot sold for $46,875 - an increase of 17.1% on a valuation of $40,000.

The photograph is one of two that shows the models clothed and unclothed in identical poses. It was formely installed in the Playboy Club in Tokyo, Japan.

In 2008, a set of both prints sold for $241,000 at Christie's New York.

Banksy's Bomb Hugger achieved $34,375, exceeding its $12,000 estimate by 186.4%.

The painting is sprayed on a piece of cardboard and was made by the artist for the 2003 anti-war protests in London. The image, which depicts a young girl hugging a bomb, is among his most iconic designs.

Banksy's work regularly breaks six and even seven figures at auction, with the highest figures generally reserved for original paintings that have been removed from the street.

In February this year, Kissing Coppers made $575,000 in a sale at Fine Art Auctions Miami, having been removed from a wall in Brighton, UK in 2011.

Another work, titled Spy Booth, will be removed and auctioned in London within the coming months.
