Edvard Munch's Two Human Beings (1899) headlined a Prints & Multiples sale at Sotheby's London on September 16, achieving £290,500 ($470,261).
The woodcut shows two figures gazing out across a suitably bleak landscape, evoking Munch's pet themes of depression, ennui and existential terror.

It's a reworking of a painting the artist produced in the 1890s titled The Lonely Ones.
Munch's The Scream is ranked among the world's most valuable paintings, having sold for a then world record sum of $119.9m at Sotheby's New York in 2012.
Roy Lichtenstein's Nude with Blue Hair (numbered 29 of an edition of 40) made £266,500 ($431,410).
It dates to 1994, when the artist was working on his Nudes series - the last major project he embarked on prior to his death in 1997.
In this way, he trod a similar path to other artists who explored the feminine form in their twilight years, including Matisse.
Another work from the series, titled Two Nudes, sold for £100,000 ($153,539) at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury in December last year.
