The work dates to 2008 and is a fine example of the artist's latest series of works, which are inspired by the Yorkshire landscape he was born and raised in.

Sotheby's explains: "Arranged Felled Trees is an extraordinary, joyful example of David Hockney's legendary depictions of the bucolic landscape of East Yorkshire: a triumphant eulogy to an area the artist became enamoured with as a young teenager."

The work will star alongside Francis Bacon's Study for a Pope I, which will lead the sale with a valuation of up to £35m ($55m).
