Damien Hirst rare print auctions for Cancer Research UK's Sound & Vision

Brit artist Damien Hirst is doing his bit for charity in The Beatles' old stomping ground of Abbey Road Studios, this Friday (March 2).

Among various artworks auctioning to benefit the Cancer Research UK's Sound & Vision event at the studios is a 6ft by 4ft print by Hirst.

The autographed work is a print of a picture captured and donated by Denis O'Regan. Photographer O'Regan took the photo during Irish rock band U2's headline performance at Glastonbury 2011.

O'Regan asked Hirst to photograph his print especially after the event, to be sold in a charity auction. Hirst also added scribbled doodles "of some of his most celebrated icons."

The rare Hirst art print carries a £15,000 presale estimate. Its rarity and the addition of Hirst's signature should make it a prime contender at the Cancer Research UK's Sound & Vision auction.

Collectors can place pre-event commission bids prior to the March 2 sale.

Prints by the world's top artists are highly sought-after by collectors.

Last year, in Paul Fraser Collectibles' home city of Bristol, UK, fans of the British graffiti artist Banksy queued for hours in the rain in the hope of acquiring a limited edition print by the street artist.

Each Banksy print was for sale priced at £5. Yet, within 24 hours, the very same prints were changing hands for as much as £200 each - equal to a 4,000% profit.
