Christie's has confirmed it will hold a second auction in India on December 11, building on the success of its first sale in 2013.

The London company remains the only international auction house to hold auction in India, having established a base in Mumbai. Championing Indian art, the first sale saw a VS Gaitonde landscape sell for $3.7m to set a new world record for an Indian artist.
Top lot of the present sale is Tyeb Mehta's Untitled (Falling Bull), a 1999 work described by Christie's as "a virtuosic celebration of the iconic subjects and symbols that embody the oeuvre of this modern master."
It is expected to sell for $1.3m-1.9m.
Another VS Gaitonde work will also feature in the sale, valued at $897,870-1.1m. An untitled piece from 1998, it provides a rare opportunity to own his work, with the artist only creating around five or six canvases a year.
The work offered at Christie's can expect strong bids, as it hails from the last active year of his career prior to his death in 2001. There is also a major retrospective on Gaitonde's work currently at the Guggenheim Museum in New Yor, bringing renewed interest in his work.
Further highlights include an untitled work by Francis Newton Souza, valued at $750,945-1m, and Les toits de la rue St Jacques by Syed Haider Raza, estimated at $489,747-652,996.
