Christie's has announced that it will auction items from the estate of Bruno Giacometti on September 24 in Zurich, after he passed away aged 104 in March this year.

Works by Alberto Giacometti have been donated to the Kunsthaus Zurich

Giacometti was a prominent Swiss architect, who was brother of artists Alberto and Diego and son of the renowned Swiss painter, Giovanni Giacometti. The sale of his estate will include personal items from across the family's rich artistic history, while any painting or preparatory work from either of his brothers has been donated to the Kunsthaus Zurich.

A highlight of the auction will come from Giovanni Giacometti's artist's stool, which was once part of his studio in Stampa, Switzerland. The stool can be seen in a photograph in which Alberto Giacometti is seated, painting his wife Annette in his father's studio. It will auction with a pre-sale estimate of $3,000-5,000, along with other small objects from the Stampa household that will be sold separately.

Also offered is the suitcase which Alberto Giacometti had with him on his final trip to Chur in 1966, where he hoped to recover from a recent stomach cancer operation. It will be sold with Alberto's nametag still present and many of the labels which trace his decades of travel across the world. A $4,000-6,000 estimate has been set.

All of the revenue from the sale will benefit the Dr Beat Richner's Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals, which provide free healthcare to children in Cambodia.
