Beth Cavener Stichter's Olympia has shone at a major modern and contemporary ceramics auction in the US.

The stunning piece sold for $93,000, beating its high estimate of $65,000 by 43.1%.
In doing so it comfortably led the October 31 auction in Ohio, setting a new world record for the popular artist in the process.
"Olympia had been widely published and exhibited, no doubt contributing to its final sale price," the auction house said.
The Washington artist has slowly come to prominence in the last 10 years, and is best known for her unsettling animal works.
There was also a strong performance from three classical bust-style self-portraits from Robert Arneson, known as the father of "ceramic funk". The three works, which depict the artist in differing states of decay, sold for a combined $57,600 to a single collector.
The auction house's Garth Clark commented: "It seems that every sale brings forth new works, and more importantly for our consignors, new auction records."
The sale also featured a pair of Akio Takamori's "envelope" sculptures. Male and Female Pair sold for $12,000, while Ralph Bacerra's Gold Teapot achieved $9,600.
The 20th Century Art + Design auction that followed the ceramics also featured some strong results, including Robert Rauschenberg's Collage with Horse, which sold for $12,000.
