Asia Week New York will get under way on March 15 with a stunning line-up of sales announced by the world's leading auction houses.

Doyle New York kicks off proceedings with this fantastic Chinese Qing dynasty zitan display cabinet ($150,000-250,000)

Running March 15-23, the event will also see an array of Asian works displayed at exhibitions spread across 43 galleries. Collectors and enthusiasts can attend lectures and discussions on all aspects of art from the continent, which will be led by world-renowned experts.

"Asia Week is a crescendo of events we are proud to bring to New York. They augment the city's already rich cultural holdings with world class Asian art exhibitions, many of which might be worthy of display in any one of the city's top-tier museums," commented Henry Howard-Sneyd, chairman of Asia Week New York 2013 and Sotheby's vice-chairman of Asian art.

Auctions get underway on March 18, as Doyle New York presents its Asian Works of Art sale, while Bonhams offers Indian, Himalayan and southeast Asian art. One of the expected highlights of the week will follow on March 19, with Sotheby's offering the illustrious Amaya collection amid important sales from Christie's.

The week will culminate with Christie's Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art Parts I & II, held on March 22. Christie's last Fine Chinese Ceramics sale was seen in September 2012's Asia Week in New York, and was topped by a rare bronze Zun that sold for $1.4m.
