A very rare Elizabethan oak panel-back chair is to auction in the UK on July 25.
Expected to achieve £6,000-8,000 ($9,100-12,000), the carved circa 1580 chair boasts scroll-ended open arms on fluted-baluster turned supports.

Reputedly hailing from Parham House - one of the finest surviving Elizabethan properties in Britain - it is possible that Queen Elizabeth I, during a visit to Parham House in 1593, sat on the chair.
Expertly-crafted, Tudor period items seldom fail to do well at auction. However, such pieces do not appear at auction all that often.
In October 2002, a large Elizabethan refectory table sold for $41,825 at Sotheby's New York, while a small Elizabethan oak stool made £38,400 ($57,500) at Sotheby's in 2005.
