A "dust jacket" style black bellied plover by legendary carver AE Crowell has sold for $120,000 at Guyette & Deeter.
The lot crossed the block on the first day of the July Decoy Auction in Maryland on July 29.
Specialist Stephen O'Brien, who brokered a sale of $1.1m for two Crowell decoys in 2007, describes him as "Cezanne in the field of waterfowl carving".
His auction record stands at $830,000, the most ever paid for a single decoy.
