Bonhams will offer a rare Porsche-Diesel Junior L108 tractor in its August 18 Monterey sale, the Mail Online reports.
The stunning piece, easily one of the world’s most photogenic tractors, is expected to sell for around $58,000.
Porsche tractors proved popular among farmers around the world
It’s a little known fact that Porsche has a history in the tractor industry.
The company produced four designs in collaboration with Allgaier and Hofherr Schrantz between 1956 and 1963.
Around 125,000 Junior L108s were produced, most of which were worked into the ground in Europe and the US. Today there are few left in good condition.
Porsche-Diesel tractors are particularly popular with hobbyist mechanics as they are cheap in unrestored condition, but can double or triple in value when fixed up.
A Bonhams spokesman told the Daily Mail: “Of the four Porsche tractor models produced, the Junior is the most sought after by collectors due to its small size and beautiful design.
“The L108 was designed by Ferdinand Porsche himself...
“This example has benefitted from a dedicated owner who restored the tractor to its current impressive condition.
“It presents a unique opportunity for a Porsche collector to add a unique piece of history to their stable.”
In 2009, a 1959 Porsche Junior L108 realised $28,600 at RM Auctions.
