The last Vincent Black Shadow Series C made in 1955 set a new world record at Bonhams
The last 1955 Vincent Black Shadow Series C to roll off the production line set a new record at Bonhams' Important Collector's Motorcycles auction on April 29, 2012.
The legendary British bike was the last of the Series C to be produced by Vincent, following the introduction of Series D. The Series D range officially went into production at the start of 1955, but for the first few months of the year the company still made a scant number of Series C. Confirmed by the Vincent Owners' Club as the very last of its kind from February 1955, the bike is a must-have itemfor collectors of the British firm. The company closed just one week before Christmas in 1955, with its final motorcycle entitled, "The Last". The 1955 Vincent Black Shadow Series C made 124,700 in the Bonhams sale, which is believed to be the highest price paid for the motorcycle at auction.
