Mafeking 1892 (September 3rd) Registered Postal Stationery envelope [Nov 1887 issue, 4d on 2d blue size G] from Mafeking to the Columbian Consulate, Jersey bearing 1891-1904 4d green and purple-brown cancelled by indistinct "638" obliterator paying, in total, 8d rate (4d postage per 1/2 oz + 4d registration).
Backstamped "REGISTERED LETTER.OFFICE/CAPE TOWN" in red (7 Sept 92), 'VRYBURG' (3 Sep 92) and 'JERSEY' (27 Sep 92).
A very rare postal combination usage and the only one we have ever seen sent to Jersey. Most attractive and fine.
