British Occupation of Italian Colonies (Middle East Forces) 1942 3d violet, type M2, Nairobi overprint (13½ mm long, regular lettering and square stops), SGM9.
Fine horizontal pair, centrally cancelled by almost complete Asmara circular date stamps, dated '8.3.42'.
Some perforation separation at top, but a very scarce used multiple.
These stamps of Great Britain were overprinted by Army Printing Services in Cairo for use in territory occupied by British Forces in Eritrea, Italian Somaliland, Cyrenaica, Tripolitania and some of the Dodecanese islands.
