Increasing numbers of investors with an eye on diversity are turning their attentions to Apollo XI memorabilia, such is the excitement emerging from the sector.
The figures tell the story.
In 2009, the navigation chart employed on board Apollo XI and the step-by-step instructions for the lunar module's descent to the moon sold at Bonhams for $218,000 and $152,000, respectively.
Neil Armstrong stopped signed autographs in 1994, which makes his signature rare and highly sought after.
According to the PFC40 Autograph Index, the first man on the moon's autograph rose in value from £550 ($840) to £5,950 ($9,110) between 2000 and 2011, at a rate of 24.17% pa.
The signatures of all three Apollo XI astronauts together are more valuable still. They are worth £9,500 ($14,540) according to the index, having grown at a rate of 15.22% pa since 2000.
Paul Fraser Collectibles has one of these much sought-after rarities currently in stock: a Life magazine page featuring the autographs of Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins.
The Apollo XI spacesuits are housed at the Smithsonian in Washington.
In 2010 Paul Fraser Collectibles sold an unsigned NASA boiler suit, worn by Michael Collins following the crew's recovery from the Pacific Ocean, for £75,000 ($117,500).
We currently have one of the most in-demand pieces of Apollo XI memorabilia in existence: the signed training suit worn by Buzz Aldrin ahead of the historic mission. It too is available for £75,000 ($117,500).
The bright orange flight coverall was worn by Aldrin during training for both his spaceflights: Gemini 12 in 1966, where he conducted three successful space walks, and Apollo XI.
It has been signed by Aldrin: "Buzz Aldrin, Apollo 11, July 20th 1969".
It offers superb value: in May 2011 the spacesuit Alexei Leonov wore when he shook hands with Tom Stafford during the historic docking of the Soviet and US crews in 1975 sold for $242,000.
