A study in oil by Norman Rockwell for The Fireman will lead a sale at Grogan & Company in Massachusetts on February 23 with an estimate of $50,000-100,000.

Rockwell completed the piece in preparation for the May 27, 1944 cover of the Saturday Evening Post, and presented it to the sitter, Howard Lewis - a New York based publisher.
There has been a renewed interest in Rockwell of late, resulting in a significant advance in his price point. In December 2013, his Saying Grace set a new auction record for his work when it sold for $46m at Sotheby's New York.
