Great Britain 1906 1d Colour Trial, SG219var – Cerise on Crown Watermarked Paper
A very fine unused original gum example of the King Edward VII 1d imperforate colour trial, printed in an intense cerise shade on Crown watermarked paper.
This trial was produced from a special plate of 20 electros by the printers, De La Rue as part of experiments with colour options for the King Edward VII definitive series. The final issued version appeared in carmine.
In outstanding condition, the stamp retains its full gum and shows crisp, well-defined detail throughout.
