Niger Coast 1894 (10 Aug) ½d on 2½d blue, type 17 surcharge, Old Calabar provisional, tied to small piece by 'OLD CALABAR' squared circle, dated 'SP 24 94'. First state of position 8 of the setting, prior to the broken 'N' in 'ONE, SG65.
A fine and scarce used example.
Very scarce with only 960 of the basic stamps being issued.
Accompanied with an American Philatelic Society (APS) certificate of authenticity (2000).
