Antiquorum's September watch sale in New York was as varied as it was successful.

The 414 lots, which netted a total of $9m, included two record breaking Patek Philippes and a watch owned by Marlon Brando.

Not least among them was a watch that has been used in space.

The Seiko GMT Spring Drive Spacewalk was made in a limited edition of six pieces especially for the 12 day Space Mission "Soyuz TMA-13" to the International Space Station.

It was worn by the private space explorer and renowned video game designer, Richard Garriott.

The Seiko watch is classed as a "flown" piece, meaning that it has been in space. Proceeds from the sale went to the Nature Conservancy and the Challenger Center.

The Antiquorum sale was a massive success, with 414, or 85%, of the lots selling for around $9m in total. Notable international bidding came from countries such as Italy, Turkey and Hong Kong.

Big sales included the incredible breaking of two world records by Patek Philippe watches - the Ref. 5016 and Ref. 3939 selling for $178,000 and $684,000, respectively.

Antiquorum's next auction is in Geneva on October 3-4, featuring another extraordinary collection of modern and vintage collectible timepieces.
