Interasia prepares for more World Record prices at its next stamps sale

Interasia, the stamp auctioneer which has achieved much success in the Asian stamp markets, is limbering up for another sale.

At this time, the company has just finished taking consignments for the sale which is not for another two months yet, but it's well worth noting in your calendar - especially given the number of records broken in last year's winter sale.

The sale includes a wealth of both Ching Dynasty and Republic stamps and postal history, highlighted by two specialised offerings which will be showcased in separate handbook catalogues including: Large Dragons 1878-1883, including essays and proofs, multiples, varieties, cancellations and covers and Small Dragons, including domestic, foreign and incoming mail.

The Republic period includes the spectacular corner margin example of the Hall of Classics inverted center (one of two known) and a complete set of American Bank Note Company die proofs. There are specialised collections of postal stationery and early airmails, as well as a fine array of postal history including early and unusual incoming mail.

The People's Republic section includes the Ng Siong Tee International Gold Medal Collection of the Cultural Revolution, including the unique corner block of four of Chairman Mao's Inscription to Japanese Worker Friends. This makes it an exceptionally strong investment.

The demand for People's Republic at this point is enormous, and the sale will be a fantastic opportunity to take advantage of this white hot market.

Then there are stamps from Hong Kong, the Treaty Ports and Macau: The Hong Kong and Treaty Ports stamps and postal history include the newly-discovered 1897 $1 on $2 olive-green postal-fiscal with the Chinese handstamp at right omitted.

An unmounted strip of three of the K.G.V 50c. olive black and a nice offering of sheets will also be on offer.

The postal history is anchored by the 'Alicante' Collection of Hong Kong Markings and Postal History, a multi-decade comprehensive study formed by one of the preeminent postal historians of our time that includes important specialised sections of accountancy marking, late mail, and insufficiently paid and postage dues, as well as exceptional postal history usages.

The Macau section includes a wonderful old-time collection on cover, including noteworthy frankings and pre-philatelic usages. Interasia's sale takes place on February 26-27, and we'll be bringing you more news closer to the time.
