Kate Middleton's sensational wedding dress goes on display in Buckingham Palace
The satin and lace dream will be shown alongside the couple's wedding cake and Fabergé eggs
There's hugely exciting news for fans of Royal memorabilia today as the Royal family have announced that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton's wedding dress is to go on display at Buckingham Palace.
|Kate Middleton's wedding dress is revealed|
Created using centuries-old techniques combining lace and embroidery, the dress by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen's studio was a sensation when it was revealed on April 29.
Alongside Princess Beatrice's bizarre Philip Treacy hat, which grabbed headlines all of its own and has now been sold for $131,000 forcharity on eBay, the Duchesses' white and ivory satin dress was the most memorable item worn on the day, and there was much cooing and shrieking over it nationwide, and indeed around the world.
The dress, created using English lace and French Chantilly lace throughout the bodice and skirt with hand-cut lace flowers added into the tulle (the fine net at the top), will be on view from July 23 to October 3, including the train which reached a full 2.7 metres in length.
Also appearing will be the satin and lace shoes, and the Queen Mother's 1936 Cartier tiara which Royal enthusiasts will know was loaned to Kate for the ceremony.
Sadly Pippa Middleton's dress, which drew the attention of many admirers to her figure, will not be on display. However, the couple's tiered wedding cake will be.
The items will star in the annual exhibition which is part of the opening of Buckingham Palace, in which the Royal collection of Fabergé eggs and jewellery will also be featured.
