A stylish Richard Mille wristwatch looks like it is going to be the main attraction at Sotheby's upcoming auction of fine timepieces next month, July 14, in London.
Similar to watches manufactured by Swiss maker FP Journe, those made by the French company have a dignified, understated style about them.
The elegant black strap on this particular example, estimated to sell for £40,000-60,000 ($63,936-95,904), helps make its fantastic 18k white gold 'buckle' standout even more. Set with 31 jewels and sporting an open face dial, revealing its innermost workings, it is a great piece of design and engineering.

Though maybe not in as high a bracket as the truly elite watchmakers like Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin, it is still a very respectable lot for any watch collector.
The next highest valued lot in the auction is the Audemars Piguet 18k pink gold tourbillon, with its very stylised Edward Piguet curved rectangular case, valued at £30,000-40,000 ($47,934-63,936).

The trademark case design, which is said to subtly hark back to the principles of Art Deco designs of the 1930s, looks truly incredible on this watch. Its high quality dial and tortoise shell strap give it the essence of being a real gentleman's wristwatch.
Showing the high degree of variation which can exist within a manufacturer's products, the next most valuable watch is also an Audemars Piguet, but is much more eye catching than the previous one.
The white gold, diamond and emerald set bracelet watch is encrusted with 24 baguette-cut diamonds and a chain-style strap, and has been given a value of between £28,000-35,000 ($44,722-55,896).
